Our History

The Rotary Club of LaSalle Centennial (RCLC) received its Charter on February 23, 2005; the same day as the 100th Anniversary of Rotary International.

The club was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Windsor-Roseland which provided support to the founding members of the LaSalle Club. Those founders had a vision to bring the ideals of Rotary to the town of LaSalle. There were thirty (30) founding members and the first President was Rob McKenzie. Shalin Kholsa was a founding member and is still an active member of the Club.

They could not wait to get started with “Service above self”. The club’s first project was a furnace for a school in China, in 2003, before the club charter was even granted. Additionally, in 2004/05 the club supported a handicap lift at St Clair College swimming pool.

Our first local LaSalle project was sponsoring the Rotary Room at the Vollmer Centre in LaSalle, which is rented out for class or recreational functions.  Funds for this project were raised from Art in the Woods at Brunet Park. The total club commitment was $50,000.
